Guilherme Paulus: The Philosophy That Led Him To Success

The original dream of Guilherme Paulus was to become a Doctor. However, he could not pursue this career because his parents did not have the financial capacity to support his educational needs at the time. This led him to pursue different endeavors. He still managed to obtain a business administration degree and soon went on to work as a trainee for the IBM company.

It took only a little over two years for him to realize that although computing was a useful skill, it was not for him. After landing a job as a traveling salesman for the Casa Faro traveling agency, he meant a politician named Carlos Vicente Cerchiari. The politician was fond of Guilhermeā€™s exceptional skills in customer service. Because of this, he offered Guilherme Paulus a partnership for the two to found their own company. The two entrepreneurs founded the CVC Travel Agency in 1979. Carlos left the business venture only four years after its creation and sold his shares of the company to Guilherme Paulus. Although he was alone in the leadership role of the CVC travel agency, Paulus managed to lead it to success, and it is now known as the largest tourism operator in all of Latin America. The CVC travel agency managed to experience a higher level of success because of the investment of a global fund. This was possible because he decided to sell a big part of the travel agency to the global investment firm known as the Carlyle Group in 2009. Paulus originally asked the Carlyle Group for 1 billion, but in the end, the deal closed or 700 million.

This was not his only successful business venture. In 2005, Guilherme Paulus founded the GJP Hotels and Resorts Network. He started off with only one establishment, but the GJP is now known as one of the largest hotel chains in leisure tourism and events. It has control of 19 hotels and resorts in the country of Brazil. It is also now looking to build and acquire more hotels and resorts near airports in Brazil. His Philosophy for success is to Simply love the customer.
